Why do you need a videographer?

What is the most common thing you hear people say at the end of their wedding day? I can remember saying it at the end of my own wedding day.

‘I can’t believe it’s all over’.

At almost every wedding I have filmed within Tipperary and Kilkenny , towards the end of the day, I have overheard the bride or groom mutter something along the lines of ‘I can’t believe the day has gone by so fast’. I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true. On your wedding day you will be so busy having fun and mingling with your friends and guests whom you haven’t seen for a long time, that the day will absolutely fly. You will be in high demand and everyone will want to speak with you and wish you well. Of course, you will not need to worry about me, I will quietly go about my business while you enjoy a great day.

Now, I want you to think of the months and months of careful planning and effort that go into planning your wedding day. Think of how long it is taking to plan your guest list, how long it takes to choose your wedding dress. What type of flowers are you having in the church? Are you having wedding favours or donating to charity? Are the flower girls having fresh flowers in their hair? Think about the huge amount of time and effort you are putting into the preparations and the finer details.

If you really want to cherish and relive all of these memories as vividly as possible, the best way to do so is by having a videographer present on the day. It is a shame to risk forgetting all the finer details, a reflection of your joint efforts, passion and creativity.

Having a videographer at your wedding will also give you an opportunity to witness moments when you were not present and can answer questions about how others were feeling that day.

Such as ‘How was the groom before I arrived at the church? Was he as nervous as me?’

What was the atmosphere like at the church before I arrived?’

‘How was the father of the bride on the morning of the wedding?’

The atmosphere in the bride’s home, the morning of the wedding can be incredibly exciting and can only be captured by a videographer. I’m sure you’ll agree if you have experienced it before. I feel humbled to be able to share and recreate the mood of that morning – sheer excitement and nerves before the big event. Another favourite moment I will never tire of filming, is the expression on the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time as she enters the church. Equally brilliant is the moment when the bride and groom walk down the aisle hand in hand, with a look of pure exhilaration and relief that the difficult part is over and now they can relax a little and enjoy the rest of the day. There are so many wonderful moments worth catching to be seen again and again.

As you may well know, I have been dedicated to this industry for some time, (for twenty years in fact!) I have filmed weddings in Tipperary  Kilkenny Carlow, Cork, Waterford and  beyond, and in those years I have developed a keen sense of what is important. I appreciate which crucial moments from the ceremony really need to be filmed, I know how to best record the finer details. I know when a big, fat close up is needed and when to hang back to observe the crowd; and most importantly of all, because of my years in training, I can put all of this into practice to create an artistic and beautifully flowing wedding DVD.

I take delight in sharing and witnessing these beautiful moments. For me, to capture these moments for the couple to enjoy again and again, really is the icing on the cake! That’s why I love my job.

If you would like to have a chat about hiring me to film your wedding, please call or email me at any time. I’m based in Cashel, and am renowned within Co. Tipperary and beyond.

Yesterday evening I took  two local wedding DVD bookings for the Tipperary / Kilkenny areas for 2015, which incidentally looks to be another great year. It’s funny the way wedding bookings have changed in the last year or so. Couples often booked a bit nearer the date of their wedding, I guess due to budget constraints of the last  few years or so, but of late they are booking one and two years in advance – which  I’m not complaining about!  It’s great to see there’s maybe some confidence in our country’s economy again.  There is always something nice about a local wedding – working with the people you see every day.  And getting lots of referrals from local  couples, having viewed their completed wedding DVDs , is worth its weight in gold.  Talking about gold, price is not too much of a problem any more when brides or grooms enquire regarding a wedding video package.  I remember not too long ago the BIG question was HOW MUCH??.. Well that’s like asking how long is a piece of string?!  Everywedding  DVD is different as regards the needs of the couple let it be price, the type of package they might want or the amount of coverage.  I have often said to couples my price starts at  €400 and they can build on that and sure enough they do – 90% of them go for my top package, which starts at the Bride’s home and includes a  selection of dances that evening, giving fantastic coverage and huge value for their money.  On the other hand I have lots of weddings over the different borders such as Kilkenny, Waterford, Carlow, Limerick and Cork, and it’s like all wedding venues – it’s nice to visit these place as well and get to know new people at the weddings. Of course getting more referrals  along the way via the internet  is a huge part of business these days but word of mouth is most ingratiating.wedding

rsz_dsc01053-300x169 Speaking of local weddings, I was filming  a wedding with  Selina O’Meara on Friday  last in Lisvernane Church just outside Tipperary town.  I met Selina  again just last week in the  Abbey Court Hotel in  Nenagh.  Selina is a fantastic wedding photographer, so quick off the mark and achieving  stunning  photography as she goes.  We were discussing wedding videography and photography and the way things have changed over time – for the better I think as people have become more price conscious and shop around a bit more for better value.  But it’s not always about getting a cheap wedding video or  cheap wedding photographs, you also have to think of the end product, which I sometimes remind clients of.  So by all means shop around, but the cheapest is not always a good idea, after all you will still want to play your wedding DVDs in 20 years time or maybe in 40 years your children will take it out and have a look at the fashions of  2014 /15/16 and so it is of utmost importance to have your wedding day filmed by a professional wedding videographer / photographer.

A little  something  I have been reading up on of late is  Moposa – see it here on the link  http://www.aherlowhouse.ie/moposa.html    ok a little insight to it ….

Moposa enables you to share more of the wedding  details with family and friends both at home and abroad should you wish to  simplify the planning process and save time and money along the way.  Some of the fantastic tools that are provided through Moposa include your own guest list manager, personal-URL wedding website with online RSVP, budget planner, guest text messaging and ‘drag-n-drop’ seating  planning for the function rooms. You can even import guests from you face book!  I just thought it was a great little wedding  planingtool.

Wedding suppliers around Tipperary

Wedding suppliers around Tipperary

( By Abbey Video Productions)

While filming  weddings in and around Tipperary and the larger Munster area I am often asked by brides and grooms to recommend suppliers in the locality. Now this is not an easy task as I know so many over the years, but I often direct them to Brides In Munster,  a handy little supplier site which only has local and professional, and of course affordable suppliers, which I set up for this very purpose.  As I often say, if they’re not listed on Brides In Munster well …. what can I say?  The hotel of course is one of  the couples’ first port of call,  have a look here at Dundrum House Hotel Video – I think it speaks for itself.  You can also have a look at their fabulous wedding  packages here

Next I guess is your photographer, and where do I start here?!  Over the years I have worked with some greatTipperary wedding photographers and  also some fantastic guys outside Tipperary.  So to be fair I will recommend those whom I’m most familiar with. Andrew Mc Dermott  wedding studio is based in Waterford but covers all of Ireland.  Donal O Brien Photography – Donal is based in Mullinahone in Tipperary and I have met Donal at many weddings in Tipperary and Kilkenny.  Denis Vahey Photography  is Cashel based and Denis is a young, vibrant photographer.  John D Kelly Photography  is based in Clonmel  and is another fantastic photographer.  So as I said there are many more photographers out there, but remember when booking a photography for your wedding day you can’t put a price on quality!

When it comes to wedding flowers I would have to recommend Janes Flowers Cabin  from  Kilcommon, Thurles, Co Tipperary.  I have met with Jane many times when I have filmed and while she has provided flowers for the same wedding.  Her flowers always look and keep so fresh and crisp, even on  a warm, sunny day, of which we had many last year!  So a quick call to Jane should have your wedding bouquet and church looking great on your wedding day – you would be surprised how many people comment on the flowers on a wedding day in the church.

For wedding car hire I would personally select All Events Limousines from Waterford, a fine group of experienced drivers who know nearly all of the churches and hotels in Ireland, along with all the best photography locations.  Their cars are second to none and with over 20 years wedding car hire experience in the UK and Ireland. They are well worth a call and maybe visit their website  All Events Wedding Cars for some more information.

Videographers in Tipperary – well this is an easy one for me!  Abbey Video Productions based in Cashel.  As you may well know, I have been dedicated to this industry for some time.  I have filmed weddings in Tipperary and beyond, and over the years I have developed a keen sense of what is important.  I appreciate which crucial moments from the ceremony really need to be filmed and I know how to best record the finer details.  Because of my years of training I can put all of this into practice to create an artistic and beautifully flowing wedding DVD.  I take delight in sharing and witnessing these beautiful moments. For me, to capture these moments for the couple to enjoy again and again, really is the icing on the cake!  That’s why I love my job.

Many wedding suppliers are required in order to create the day of your dreams, so make sure you visit Brides In Munster  to see the  full range of wedding suppliers covering all Tipperary and Munster.  I do hope you will find it useful  in helping to create your wedding day.
