What is the most common thing you hear people say at the end of their wedding day? I can remember saying it at the end of my own wedding day.

‘I can’t believe it’s all over’.

At almost every wedding I have filmed within Tipperary and Kilkenny , towards the end of the day, I have overheard the bride or groom mutter something along the lines of ‘I can’t believe the day has gone by so fast’. I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true. On your wedding day you will be so busy having fun and mingling with your friends and guests whom you haven’t seen for a long time, that the day will absolutely fly. You will be in high demand and everyone will want to speak with you and wish you well. Of course, you will not need to worry about me, I will quietly go about my business while you enjoy a great day.

Now, I want you to think of the months and months of careful planning and effort that go into planning your wedding day. Think of how long it is taking to plan your guest list, how long it takes to choose your wedding dress. What type of flowers are you having in the church? Are you having wedding favours or donating to charity? Are the flower girls having fresh flowers in their hair? Think about the huge amount of time and effort you are putting into the preparations and the finer details.

If you really want to cherish and relive all of these memories as vividly as possible, the best way to do so is by having a videographer present on the day. It is a shame to risk forgetting all the finer details, a reflection of your joint efforts, passion and creativity.

Having a videographer at your wedding will also give you an opportunity to witness moments when you were not present and can answer questions about how others were feeling that day.

Such as ‘How was the groom before I arrived at the church? Was he as nervous as me?’

What was the atmosphere like at the church before I arrived?’

‘How was the father of the bride on the morning of the wedding?’

The atmosphere in the bride’s home, the morning of the wedding can be incredibly exciting and can only be captured by a videographer. I’m sure you’ll agree if you have experienced it before. I feel humbled to be able to share and recreate the mood of that morning – sheer excitement and nerves before the big event. Another favourite moment I will never tire of filming, is the expression on the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time as she enters the church. Equally brilliant is the moment when the bride and groom walk down the aisle hand in hand, with a look of pure exhilaration and relief that the difficult part is over and now they can relax a little and enjoy the rest of the day. There are so many wonderful moments worth catching to be seen again and again.

As you may well know, I have been dedicated to this industry for some time, (for twenty years in fact!) I have filmed weddings in Tipperary  Kilkenny Carlow, Cork, Waterford and  beyond, and in those years I have developed a keen sense of what is important. I appreciate which crucial moments from the ceremony really need to be filmed, I know how to best record the finer details. I know when a big, fat close up is needed and when to hang back to observe the crowd; and most importantly of all, because of my years in training, I can put all of this into practice to create an artistic and beautifully flowing wedding DVD.

I take delight in sharing and witnessing these beautiful moments. For me, to capture these moments for the couple to enjoy again and again, really is the icing on the cake! That’s why I love my job.

If you would like to have a chat about hiring me to film your wedding, please call or email me at any time. I’m based in Cashel, and am renowned within Co. Tipperary and beyond.

It’s that time of the year where we look back on the old and look forward to the new. 2014 was a fantastic year for us, with weddings all over Munster, but mostly in my own county of Tipperary and, of course, down the road in Kilkenny. But these are only a few areas I have visited of course. I’ll be in Carlow, Waterford and Limerick, as well, over the next few days – Windgap in Kilkenny  then on to the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny, Cashel  & Dundrum House Hotel Tipperary, and back to Kilkenny to return to the New park Hotel again for my first wedding of 2015. I love Christmas and new year weddings. My Christmas weddings of 2014 over the last few weeks  have been so busy & fantastic, with lovely light, cosy fires in the hotels – not that I get to stand by it for long or taste the mulled wine! But it’s still nice with everyone dressed with a hint of black and red. Overall, it’s a lovely time to get married.

It’s Sunday evening and I must get ready for a wedding videotomorrow of a lovely couple. The bride is, of course, a local girl from Tipperary and the groom, a Kilkenny man, so I’m looking forward to a fun filled day. I don’t get a chance to sit and writeblogs much as I would like to, but I love to keep up with my work by having the couples wedding video completed on time and ready for collection when they come back off honeymoon. It’s like the school shows I filmed over Christmas time – ALL were ready and delivered on time for Christmas for their families to enjoy on Christmas day. I filmed a show in Newport in Tipperary on the 17th of December, and the very large amount of DVDs were delivered to the school on the 19th – two day later! Now that’s service and, of course, with a :) Breda, my good wife and editor in one, was a big part of the editing and packing over Christmas. With weddings and shows all over Tipperary and Kilkenny, this is where two people working as a great team makes a great video business. My last few words are, of course, to wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2015 ~ Jo

Irish toasts and blessings for your wedding day.

Irish toasts and blessings for your wedding day.

Irish toasts and blessings for your wedding day.

By Abbey Video Productions

Throughout my career as a wedding videographer in Tipperary, I have had the pleasure of filming and witnessing many poignant and emotional wedding ceremonies. Certain details from the day may remain with me and stand out in my memory, such as a sincerely spoken prayer or blessing. When I see the guests are silent, contemplative, with heads bowed down as they listen intently, I sense how the prayer has struck a chord, helping to bring everyone together in thought for that moment. Traditional Irish prayers and blessings can help bring this quality of intimacy to your wedding ceremony. And as they are traditional they are also loaded with nostalgia. Perhaps the guests will remember their grandparents saying them long ago, and hearing them again will evoke old memories. I am heavily booked for the summer season, but a few slots remain available, so please enquire soon if you are interested and in order to avoid disappointment. Now is also a great time to think about hiring your wedding videographer if you are getting married in 2015. Should you like to discuss any aspect of wedding videography, please get in touch with me and I’ll be happy to help and discuss your ideas. If you are still not sure, have a look at my newest testimonials, packages and some of the fantastic wedding videos which I have filmed recently. ~ Joe

Keeping the Costs of your Wedding Cake Down

Keeping the Costs of your Wedding Cake Down

As a wedding  videographer here in Tipperary, many brides -to-be  ask my advice on lots of different wedding planing ideas which I am more than happy to help with, with of course the help of my free wedding supplier site Brides in Munster- Tipperary, and one such request often comes up is the cake well  I am no expert on baking ….. my wife will  vouch for this, so I  have done some research into wedding cakes! so here goes, if I have left out anything out please comment and let me know.

A special part of any reception or wedding is the wedding cake. Wedding cakes come in many sizes and shapes and can be designed to accommodate any taste or budget.

Wedding cakes are a necessary part of the festivities and require much thought and consideration to your theme. Traditionally, people often think of the tiered cakes when they think of weddings, but there are many ways that you can accommodate your own creativity into making your cake stand out on its own.

Here are some tips to keeping your cake costs down:

· Make your own wedding cake creations

· Serve cupcakes and a smaller cake for the cake toppers

· Ask a guest with a baking passion to make the cake for you instead of giving you a gift. Just remember to buy the ingredients and toppers yourself.

· Have a baker make the cake but you can put it together yourself

· Buy your own cake toppers and other decorative additions

· Pick up the cake rather than have it delivered.

· Use your own decorations like flowers, autumn leaves as accents rather than theirs etc.

· Use extra candies and Hershey’s kisses as accents

Extra cake accents and dividers that can be made at home for your wedding cake can be done by you and your wedding party.

Nice home made dividers are:

Oversized Brandy Glasses: you can accent these with ribbons tied around the bottom flute of the glass and flip the glasses upside down in order to allow room for the cake sections.

The glass bottoms will also make a nice sturdy separator for the cake layers to sit on. The best part about this decoration is that you can also place candles or other nice things inside of the flipped upside down glass as an added accent. Aside from the ribbons, you can also use rhinestones or anything else that you might think would make your cake stand out. It’s beautiful, it elegant, and the decoration can be re-used later.

When ordering your cake from a professional, you should be sure to do the following to make sure that you have the smoothest transition possible. Here are the best tips to get you the right cake at the right time, without any hassles:

· Order your cake at least 6-8 weeks ahead of time

Be prepared to leave a deposit when you place your order
If you don’t know much about the cake that you want be ready to make an appointment for a taste test of different samples. If this is required, you might need to give yourself a larger amount of time for the cake like 6 months or more

· Know that you will be paying for the decorator’s time as well as the baker’s and the reserved time for your cake

· Think seasonal when it comes to your cake, for example, you can’t get a mousse cake in the summer months because it will go bad

· Remember that the simpler your cake design is the cheaper it will be · If you are planning an outdoor wedding, remember that the heat will melt the icing, flies loves sweet stuff etc. think of this before choosing your cake
· Have a big enough cake to serve all of your guests
· Try to be mindful of allergies and tastes of your guests when choosing your cake
· Choose ornaments that are not misplaced on your cake or too heavy etc.
· Don’t forget to confirm later
· If you have to cancel the cake, do it sooner rather than later or you might get stuck with the bill anyway.    Ok so there you go…  as I said earlier in the post I am a wedding videographer not a cake maker but I hope my little blog helps, also check out Abbey Video Face Book page for lots more help and  handy information   ~ Jo
