Five Reasons for Choosing a Videographer from the Destination Chosen for Destination Wedding!
Many couples who are ready to tie the knot are increasingly leaning towards the destination wedding as a viable alternative to having the ceremony locally. There are some great reasons why this option is gaining popularity. The scale of a destination wedding is usually limited, with a smaller guest list. That means more time with family and close friends, and less time worrying about the details of preparation and planning. And you’ll have a chance to stamp your own style of the ceremony by picking a unique, fun, and different location.
And the destination itself becomes a part of the event, with no stressful travel post-ceremony to arrive at the honeymoon location and an amazing backdrop that lets everyone enjoy themselves as well as celebrating the special day with you.
Among the many items that most couples have to check off their list when preparing for their wedding is hiring the services of a wedding video editing videographer. But most resorts and venues that specialize in hosting destination weddings will have the services of a videographer available to capture the memories of the day. Here are five reasons why selecting your wedding video editing professional from the destination you’ve chosen is a great idea.
The simple matter of logistics
A destination wedding is, by definition, one that will require some degree of travel. So hiring a local videographer to do your wedding shoot and wedding video editing is an impractical idea. It’s probably very unlikely that they’ll want to take the time, and you pay the expense, to have them travel a long distance to be at the ceremony.
And the situation would be even worse for the local wedding video editing pro if the destination requires an airline flight. Then they’re looking at the added cost and hassle of transporting their equipment.
You’ll probably save money
Apart from the transportation responsibility of a local videographer, choosing the videographer who is associated with the destination venue will probably save you money in another way.
Many wedding destinations realize what an important income source weddings can be, and will do all that they can to encourage couples to choose a destination wedding for their nuptials. One of the ways they’ll do this is to offer packages that combine many of the services you’d normally pay for separately, like wedding video editing, into the cost of the overall package.
One less thing to worry about
One of the appeals of a destination wedding is the relative simplicity of planning the event. Many resorts have full-time staff devoted to nothing else but wedding planning and execution. They’ll be working with professional videographers whose work they know, and with whom they have excellent working relationships.
Be sure that the staff at the destination will work in close concert with the videographer to capture the essence of your special day in a professional manner. Be advised that some destinations may offer the option of working with several different videographers. If so, be sure to contact them and check out some samples of their wedding video editing work.
Your videographer knows the venue
Destination weddings often have dramatic backdrops – a romantic chalet, an unspoiled beach, or a stunning vista. A videographer who works with wedding destinations knows the best way to incorporate the scenery and venue into your wedding video. As there is a saying, “You can’t beat experience.”
With their steady hand on the camera, you can be sure that the product of their wedding video editing will be well-framed and shot, with consistent exposure levels, proper lighting, and excellent audio recording levels.
You’ll get a showstopper of a video
Remember the reasons you decided that you wanted a destination wedding? Undoubtedly one of them was that you want something that will stand out, and create special memories for you, as well as something that reflects your sense of taste and style. And in the end, one of the most tangible expressions of this will be the video of your ceremony, shot by someone who knows how to capture the spirit of your destination and combine it with the sincerity of your vows. Wedding video editing and videography is an art. To get the best results, you should rely upon those who know where they’re shooting the best. By selecting a videographer from the destination chosen for the destination wedding, you’re making a wise choice in how you have the memories of your special trip, and special day, recorded and presented.
Choose wisely, and don’t hesitate to select a videographer from the destination you’ve chosen for your destination wedding. It’s a smart decision that will pay off in reduced costs, more peace of mind, less stress, and great results.

I got some fantastic news early this morning when I was informed I had reached the finals of the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards 2015 ( Recognising the best of the Irish wedding industry)! But as I said in an earlier blog it it’s not the winning for me … it would be nice, don’t get me wrong, but every wedding video I film whether it be in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow or any of the multitude of other locations I attend, I always give it 110%. Every bride and groom has different ideas for their wedding video, it may be the music they choose or the way they want it filmed – each couple is unique. So when i am booked for a wedding I put a lot of planning into it well before the day, this way from the bride’s house to the first dance I know what’s expected of me – after all, it’s their day. The guests arriving is a very important part of filming as this is something the bride only gets to see on DVD later. The music in the church, the service, the vows, the walk down the aisle as husband & wife – these are all key points. With regards to the music in the Church, I like to leave a wireless microphone or a professional voice recorder near the musicians to capture the audio 100%. Sound is just as important as picture, this is why I always use a wireless mic or voice recorder discreetly placed in the groom’s pocket to pick up the vows and this is removed right away outside the door after the ceremony. The greeting line is a great way to formally meet your guests after the wedding. The bride’s house is a great place to start filming, with all the make-up and the hair being done it can be great fun. It’s a part of the day the groom doesn’t get to see so it’s nice for him to be able to view this later on their finished wedding DVD. The groom’s house sometimes gets filmed but this all depends on timing on the day, as i like to be at the ceremony location one hour before it starts – this time is needed to film the location, the flowers and all the little details in the Church or room where the ceremony is taking place.
The photograph session is a fantastic opportunity for me to capture some great video footage. I don’t just film what the photographer is doing but more of a candid covering of the bridal party and their families if they are there as well. If not I will capture them at the hotel. I enjoy filming the guests discreetly in the hotel enjoying the drinks reception, this way i get a great chance to catch up with some late-comers! From there on I film the speeches, which lately tend to take place before the meal – it’s nice to relax and enjoy your meal once they are over and done with! The dancing is filmed discreetly with no light if possible or just a small light on the camera if I need it. Your wedding will end with a highlights chapter looking back over your day. We have often been complimented on our turn-around time – we try to have the finished product ready when the couple return from honeymoon. I have read and heard of other couples not receiving their wedding DVDs for months, this can happen where only one person is working on a project and gets snowed under. It doesn’t end there… now the hard work starts! The editing can take two days to to complete, but my wife Breda is a pro at this: various effects, titles, adding music, authoring and chaptering the final product, testing design sleeves for the covers of the boxes and the art work on the discs – it’s easy to see where two days goes here!
On a final note, getting back to the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards 2015, I would like to wish all the Finalists the very best of luck.
It’s great to have a wedding video on a Thursday in March, and a local one at that! Kilcommon Church was my booking, and what a cold place it was. But for Mari & Raymond it was a perfect day … it was their wedding day. A quick call to Mari’s house on the way to the Church was my first stop. The girls were rushing around with make up, hair dryers, the works! I knew this was going to be a fun filled wedding day right away, and it was! I left Mari’s house to head to the church to capture the guys at the church but found them at a different type of establishment, with Guinness written over the door! Having filmed all the little details that Mari & Raymond had organised for the inside of the Church I went on to film the large number of family and friends arriving.
Mari arrived on time along with her bridesmaids in a party bus, which was a great surprise for all. Raymond and the lads were already in their places at the top of the Church getting some good advice from Fr Dan Woods! Mari and her dad made their way up the aisle to a wonderful greeting from Raymond, and Fr Dan gave a lovely meaningful service as usual, quick to the the point.
The wonderful Abbey Court Hotel was our stop for the evening, and who better than Ray to make everyone so welcome. I find Ray Lynch, the Wedding Co-ordinator, so helpful on the day of a wedding not only to the guests, but also to all the wedding suppliers. Ray has always been great to me recommending my video services to brides and grooms for quite a few years. The Abbey Court Hotel is also listed on my sister site BRIDES IN MUNSTER along with a short video showcasing the hotel.
After some video footage of the guests mingling and the photo shoot, it was time to film this wonderful hotel’s function room. I love to film the little details on the tables and any other personal and guest orientated details. The speeches were carried out before the meal which i think is a fantastic idea, as it allows the speakers to enjoy their meal knowing that the speeches are over and done with.
Their band for the evening was “Atomik Chicken” and from the first dance they had the floor full all night. Best wishes to Mari & Raymond, as i said it was a fun-filled wedding enjoyed by all including myself 🙂 A big thank you for having Abbey Video Productions capture your special day.
If you are planing your wedding make sure to give Ray Lynch a call in the Abbey Court Hotel Nenagh Tipperary. Well here in Tipperary and Kilkenny we are well and truly into the Wedding video season again for the new year. Like all other wedding suppliers I come across lots of fantastic professionals along the way, and one that springs to mind is Eimear Lowth from Boherlahan in County Tipperary. I meet Eimear at lots of weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, and of course all the local churches near Cashel. At one such wedding which I filmed only 2 weeks ago Eimear was the official soloist and the applause of the wedding guests showed how much they loved her singing. After the Church Eimear went to the reception to entertain the guests as they mingled and enjoyed themselves at the hotel, she really got them going with some great songs and music that was well suited to the age group that was attending the wedding. Have a look below at the clip I recorded of her at that wedding………
Eimear is a trained classical singer but also sings traditional Irish and modern music. She is a very keen person and is passionate about her music. Eimear pays great detail to the needs of all her wedding clients, helping plan and arrange the perfect church wedding music, music that best suits each couples personal tastes. Whether it’s music for a wedding service, funeral service, civil ceremony or pre-dinner drinks function, Eimear will be delighted to discuss your requirements with you. So if you have an up-coming wedding function drop her an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org before she’s booked! Eimear is also listed on the very popular wedding supplier site Brides In Munster covering Tipperary- Kilkenny and all of Munster, soon to be country wide! Keep a check and like my Facebookpage as more videos of Eimear will be on line soon, and of course Brides in MunsterFacebook page for the best choice of wedding suppliers in Tipperary and Kilkenny
As a full-time freelance musician based in Limerick, Ireland, John divides his time as a husband and father with his Singing Character acts, his band “Two Easi” and his ever-popular one man show.
John’s background lies in stage acting and performance (Island Theatre Company) and included appearances on Television and Radio alike. He relies heavily on this experience when performing as a musician and is always conscious of entertaining and engaging with his audience. His professional musicianship has taken him all over the country and John has been lucky enough to play venues such as Dolans Warehouse, Limerick (The Lollygaggers), The Savoy, Cork (Greenday tribute band “American Idiots”) and to sing at weddings in Slane Castle and Adare Manor (Final Touch).
Are you getting married and looking for something special for your big day? Looking for a personal touch or something unique? Johnny, The Singing Chef, just loves to surprise people with his vocal talents.Masquerading as the Hotel’s Head Chef Johnny moves around the room ensuring that all are happy with their meal and service. He takes to the microphone to address the crowd and thank them on behalf of the venue for their custom. He hopes they are enjoying the meal he has worked so hard to prepare and becomes quite emotional about how happy he is that you and your guests are so happy, so happy in fact that he bursts into song; yes, you’ve guessed it – “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.
From that point on it’s a roller-coaster ride of modern and classic songs with built in audience participation and interaction which not only breaks the ice but also sets the perfect party atmosphere in the room for the rest of the night.
The 9th Of January 2015 was one of my many January weddings in Kilkenny, of course, not forgetting my own county as well of Tipperary. It was a cold day for sure, but for Maria & Adrian it was their wedding day in Kilkenny at the SET theatre in Langtons hotel. As normal, my day started with a call to Maria and the girls at her home on the Kells Road – just a short drive from Kilkenny city – to capture some of the excitement of the morning. With hair being done and make-up being applied, it was all hands on deck. Once I had captured lots of fun footage, I moved on to Langton’s Hotel to get the lads arriving, along with all the guests, and to capture the little details in the fantastic Set Theatre where the ceremony was taking place. The Set Theatre is a popular venue with not only Kilkenny brides, but couples from all over Tipperary, Kilkenny, and Carlow.
A little bit about the SET Theatre before we move on: Constructed in 2009, it is a state-of-the-art venue which can hold 252 people seated and 380 standing/seated. A multi-purpose room which can cater for music acts, comedy, film and conferencing and of course weddings. The visually stunning interiors along with tasteful furnishings speak volumes about how greatly expanded the Langton brand has become over the years. Designed by the David Collins Studio in London, this is their flagship theatre and have pulled out all the stops to make it the most beautiful and talked about venue in the country.
After the ceremony, we went into Bridie’s Bar & General Store, again, part of Langtons Hotel, where we got some fantastic video footage and photographs in the old shop. Maria and Adrian were a really fun couple on the day, along with their bridal party. After the fun and photographs, they hosted a fantastic meal for the large number of guests. It’s great in this weather to be lucky enough to get so many local weddings in Tipperary and Kilkenny., and, of course, Sean in Langton’s is a great asset to the hotel. He’s also helpful to me while filming. There with odd nod when something is about to start, or with the lights so thanks to Sean for that! Also, it’s great to be on their list as a supplier of wedding videographers in and around the Kilkenny and Carlow areas. So, the very best of luck to Maria and Adrian, and many thanks to them for choosing Abbey Video Productions as their wedding videographer for their special day.
Of course, Langton’s is not the only hotel I visit on my video projects. I work all over Kilkenny in all the other hotels and I can say I would not have a bad word to say about any of them. All true professionals along the way. My next call is to the New Park hotel in two weeks time, so I’m looking forward to that as well. It is the wedding of a lovely couple — a mix of Tipperary and Kilkenny, so it should be great fun! Now, have a look at my face book to keep track of my travels and, of course, some great wedding video package prices , They are the best prices you will find in Tipperary and Kilkenny. Just give me a call and see for yourself … Now, back to some editing and more coffee. 🙂 ~ Joe
What is the most common thing you hear people say at the end of their wedding day? I can remember saying it at the end of my own wedding day.
‘I can’t believe it’s all over’.
At almost every wedding I have filmed within Tipperary and Kilkenny , towards the end of the day, I have overheard the bride or groom mutter something along the lines of ‘I can’t believe the day has gone by so fast’. I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true. On your wedding day you will be so busy having fun and mingling with your friends and guests whom you haven’t seen for a long time, that the day will absolutely fly. You will be in high demand and everyone will want to speak with you and wish you well. Of course, you will not need to worry about me, I will quietly go about my business while you enjoy a great day.
Now, I want you to think of the months and months of careful planning and effort that go into planning your wedding day. Think of how long it is taking to plan your guest list, how long it takes to choose your wedding dress. What type of flowers are you having in the church? Are you having wedding favours or donating to charity? Are the flower girls having fresh flowers in their hair? Think about the huge amount of time and effort you are putting into the preparations and the finer details.
If you really want to cherish and relive all of these memories as vividly as possible, the best way to do so is by having a videographer present on the day. It is a shame to risk forgetting all the finer details, a reflection of your joint efforts, passion and creativity.
Having a videographer at your wedding will also give you an opportunity to witness moments when you were not present and can answer questions about how others were feeling that day.
Such as ‘How was the groom before I arrived at the church? Was he as nervous as me?’
What was the atmosphere like at the church before I arrived?’
‘How was the father of the bride on the morning of the wedding?’
The atmosphere in the bride’s home, the morning of the wedding can be incredibly exciting and can only be captured by a videographer. I’m sure you’ll agree if you have experienced it before. I feel humbled to be able to share and recreate the mood of that morning – sheer excitement and nerves before the big event. Another favourite moment I will never tire of filming, is the expression on the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time as she enters the church. Equally brilliant is the moment when the bride and groom walk down the aisle hand in hand, with a look of pure exhilaration and relief that the difficult part is over and now they can relax a little and enjoy the rest of the day. There are so many wonderful moments worth catching to be seen again and again.
As you may well know, I have been dedicated to this industry for some time, (for twenty years in fact!) I have filmed weddings in Tipperary Kilkenny Carlow, Cork, Waterford and beyond, and in those years I have developed a keen sense of what is important. I appreciate which crucial moments from the ceremony really need to be filmed, I know how to best record the finer details. I know when a big, fat close up is needed and when to hang back to observe the crowd; and most importantly of all, because of my years in training, I can put all of this into practice to create an artistic and beautifully flowing wedding DVD.
I take delight in sharing and witnessing these beautiful moments. For me, to capture these moments for the couple to enjoy again and again, really is the icing on the cake! That’s why I love my job.
If you would like to have a chat about hiring me to film your wedding, please call or email me at any time. I’m based in Cashel, and am renowned within Co. Tipperary and beyond.
It’s that time of the year where we look back on the old and look forward to the new. 2014 was a fantastic year for us, with weddings all over Munster, but mostly in my own county of Tipperary and, of course, down the road in Kilkenny. But these are only a few areas I have visited of course. I’ll be in Carlow, Waterford and Limerick, as well, over the next few days – Windgap in Kilkenny then on to the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny, Cashel & Dundrum House Hotel Tipperary, and back to Kilkenny to return to the New park Hotel again for my first wedding of 2015. I love Christmas and new year weddings. My Christmas weddings of 2014 over the last few weeks have been so busy & fantastic, with lovely light, cosy fires in the hotels – not that I get to stand by it for long or taste the mulled wine! But it’s still nice with everyone dressed with a hint of black and red. Overall, it’s a lovely time to get married.
I have updated some of my wedding video packages for the coming year, as stated on my site. No big changes, just a little more value for your money. I kept my prices the same last year and will for next year, and yes, for 2016 as well! Now that’s value for your money going forward! My ongoing promotion for referring a friend still stands. This has been a HUGE success. Just a little reminder, when you book your wedding with me, and if you refer a friend who is getting married or planning their wedding and looking for a wedding videographer and should they book me on your referral for their wedding videography, you will get money off your chosen package and so will they. It’s simple. All mywedding video packages for 2015 / 2016 are well designed for you, the couple, in mind. A quick look over them you can see the full details of my wedding video packages here
Silver package :very reasonable price of 400 this is the starting price, you can build on this. Starting at the church 1hr before the service up to when you leave for the hotel.
Silver plus: All of above but also coverage can start at you house should you wish and recording up to when you sit for your evening meal or 6.30
Gold: All of above and also include your speeches if carried out before the meal,*
Diamond: All above plus recording will continue in to a selection of dances that night this is one of my very popular packages which covers all of you day up to 11.pm, as with any of my packages I will make sure no matter what you budget is, or what wedding video packageyou have chosen I will pack it with fantastic footage of you day.
It’s Sunday evening and I must get ready for a wedding videotomorrow of a lovely couple. The bride is, of course, a local girl from Tipperary and the groom, a Kilkenny man, so I’m looking forward to a fun filled day. I don’t get a chance to sit and writeblogs much as I would like to, but I love to keep up with my work by having the couples wedding video completed on time and ready for collection when they come back off honeymoon. It’s like the school shows I filmed over Christmas time – ALL were ready and delivered on time for Christmas for their families to enjoy on Christmas day. I filmed a show in Newport in Tipperary on the 17th of December, and the very large amount of DVDs were delivered to the school on the 19th – two day later! Now that’s service and, of course, with a Breda, my good wife and editor in one, was a big part of the editing and packing over Christmas. With weddings and shows all over Tipperary and Kilkenny, this is where two people working as a great team makes a great video business. My last few words are, of course, to wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2015 ~ Jo
