Post by:  Abbey Video Productions

I got some fantastic news early this morning when I was informed I had reached the finals of the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards 2015 ( Recognising the best of the Irish wedding industry)! But as I said in an earlier blog it it’s not the winning for me … it would be nice, don’t get me wrong, but every wedding video I film whether it be in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow or any of the multitude of other locations I attend, I always give it 110%.  Every bride and groom has different ideas for their wedding video, it may be the music they choose or the way they want it filmed – each couple is unique.  So when i am booked for a wedding I put a lot of planning into it well before the day, this way from the bride’s house to the first dance I know what’s expected of me – after all, it’s their day.
Wedding Video Tipperary, Brides In Tipperary, wedding video Hotel Minella Clonmel, Kilkenny Brides, Wedding video Kilkenny, Wedding video Waterford, Brides In Munster, Tipperary wedding news, wedding booking 2015 ,wedding videography, wedding video Fethard Tipperary, wedding video Lisronagh, wedding video DranganThe guests arriving is a very important part of filming as this is something the bride only gets to see on DVD later.  The music in the church, the service, the vows, the walk down the aisle as husband & wife – these are all key points. With regards to the music in the Church, I like to leave a wireless microphone or a professional voice recorder near the musicians  to capture the audio 100%.  Sound is just as important as picture, this is why I always use a wireless mic or voice recorder discreetly placed in the groom’s pocket to pick up the vows and this is removed right away outside the door after the ceremony.  The greeting line is a great way to formally meet your guests after the wedding. The bride’s house is a great place to start filming, with all the make-up and the hair being done it can be great fun.  It’s a part of the day the groom doesn’t get to see so it’s nice for him to be able to view this later on their finished wedding DVD.  The groom’s house sometimes gets filmed but this all depends on timing on the day, as i like to be at the ceremony location one hour before it starts – this time is needed to film the location, the flowers and all the little details in the Church or room where the ceremony is taking place.
The photograph session is a fantastic opportunity for me to capture some great video footage.  I don’t just film what the photographer is doing but more of a candid covering of the bridal party and their families if they are there as well. If not I will capture them at the hotel. I enjoy filming the guests discreetly in the hotel enjoying the drinks reception, this way i get a great chance to catch up with some late-comers!  From there on I film the speeches, which lately tend to take place before the meal – it’s nice to relax and enjoy your meal once they are over and done with!  The dancing is filmed discreetly with no light if possible or just a small light on the camera if I need it.  Your wedding will end with a highlights chapter looking back over your day.
Brides In Munster, irish wedding videographer, munster wedding video, Tipperary Wedding News, Wedding DVD Cashel, Wedding Video North Tipperary, Wedding Videographer Thurles, Wedding Videos TipperaryWe have often been complimented on our turn-around time – we try to have the finished product ready when the couple return from honeymoon. I have read and heard of other couples not receiving their wedding DVDs for months, this can happen where only one person is working on a project and gets snowed under. It doesn’t end there… now the hard work starts!  The editing can take two days to to complete, but my wife Breda is a pro at this: various effects, titles, adding music, authoring and chaptering the final product, testing design sleeves for the covers of the boxes and the art work on the discs – it’s easy to see where two days goes here!

On a final note, getting back to the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards 2015, I would like to wish all the Finalists the very best of luck.

Merry Christmas from Abbey Video

Merry Christmas wedding couples(A post by Abbey Video Productions ) Well, it’s that time of year again, when we look back and say a big thank you to all our customers, and of course our friends the wedding suppliers we have met throughout the year, and, of course to the hotels that have looked after us. It’s been a great year for weddings, along with other video work. This time of the year, it’s school show after school show most nights of the week! It’s great to see the pupils perform, both for the camera and, of course, their teachers and parents. I have filmed shows in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford , and, of course, Tipperary. Each year, it’s great to get the phone call or the e-mail opening with “Please, Joe, tell us you’re free to video our show again this year. The parents and the children are still raving about last year’s production you captured for us, so, it’s a job well done!”

Getting back to weddings over 2014. All of my weddings were local to me this year. When I say local, I mean Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Limerick ,and not forgetting, Tipperary. 80% were from recommendations and it’s great to be called back to the same family for their son’s or daughter’s wedding along the way. I have been very fortunate with my results onGoogle of late, being number one for wedding videos. Tipperary and Kilkenny are climbing the links as well and others are soon to follow. It’s not easy getting time to blog with all the editing and filming, but my good wife and editor, Breda, makes sure its all safely downloaded and begins work on it right away. That’s the great thing about working as a team. I don’t like to leave people waiting too long for their wedding video, so I always try to have it for when they return from their honeymoon. That way, it’s fresh in their minds and they can relive it all over again with family and friends. I hear horror stories about videographers not having the wedding video ready for 6 months. Even the guys working alone have no excuse. When you’re professional you’re professional, and that’s the way to do business.

As a popular wedding videographer in Tipperary and Kilkennyand further afield, I get asked about the best places for wedding photography and video shoots after the service. As I live in Cashel I would have to recommend the Hoare Abbey just up from where I live.  Hoare Abbey is a Cistercian monastery, and most of the visible remains date to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. You can still see the well preserved remains of a refectory, a large church with nave, chancel, and transepts all in good condition. Each of the transepts has a small chapel, and you can see the remains of an Archbishop’s tomb just north of the chancel.

The Rock of Cashel
is also a great photo opportunity.  Towering over the town from its perch on a 200 foot high outcrop of limestone, the Rock was once the seat of the Kings of Munster. It was visited by St. Patrick in 450 and Brian Boru was crowned King of Ireland here in the 10th century. Granted to the church in the 1100s by the O’Brien clan king, the Rock became the seat of the archbishop and it was at this time that Cormac’s Chapel was built. In 1647 the Rock was ransacked by Cromwellian forces under the leadership of Lord Inchiquin. The cloisters are in a very unusual position.  Usually the cloister is positioned to the south of the church – however at Hoare Abbey they are positioned to the north. This is possibly because the Rock of Cashel is so prominent to the north, they wanted to maximise its impact.  With all these fantastic features you will be spoiled for choice.

As a local Videographer I have filmed some stunning wedding videos in these old ruins, and if any bride is planning her wedding in the area and would like to see some footage please let me know and I can arrange for you to view it.
There are a lot more fantastic photographic locations in and around Cashel / Tipperary areas. Ardmayle  Church is one that springs to mind as I filmed  a wedding there just last Friday.

Ardmayle Church – Abbey Video ProductionsThe church and tower at Ardmayle have existed in one from or another since the middle of the 12th century. The first stone church was erected by the Normans in the 13th century under the auspices of the Knights Templar.  The church was badly damaged in 1315 and after being renovated or rebuilt is was again badly damaged in 1581 during the Desmond rebellion. The church and tower would change hands

on many occasions during the course of history with the Protestants eventually taking up permanent residence after the Catholic church moved to Nodstown (Boherlahan) in 1813. The Protestant community continued to worship in Ardmayle until the late 1950s when, due to dwindling numbers, they closed the church. The Grubb family continued to look after the building until the 1980s when the Ardmayle Heritage Society with the help of Sean Woodward of Cashel, Canon Morrissey and Fr. Feehan of Boherlahan took over the church and completely renovated it.

Thank you for time reading my blog and I hope its of some use to you when planning your wedding day.  Coming next – locations around Kilkenny ! ~ Joe

Want to hear your wedding band? Then call to the Coachman Bar Clonmel

I recently had the pleasure of visiting theThe Coachman Bar in Clonmel and what a fantastic night was had by all. This fabulous bar is situated in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. The Coachman – formally known as Larry Tobins/Slievenamon – is located at 13/14 Parnell Street. The premises boasts three bars including two function rooms. Live entertainment takes place four nights a week satisfying all ages. Recently modernised and refurbished, the premises offers the character and classical lines of yesterday, but the luxuries of today. With extensive street frontage, it stands prominently in Parnell Street. The business is privately owened by the Shanahan family for the past 25 years, so plenty of knowledge of the bar and cabaret going in their favour.

As a wedding videographer here in Tipperary, I get asked lots of times about wedding bands in and around the Tipperary area and further afield. The best way to choose your wedding band is go to hear them. But, as it was brought to my attention of late, people don’t like “gate crashing” a wedding party to hear a band playing. I can see their point, but on my visit to the The Coachman BarClonmel, I saw a band setting up in the room and recognised them from the many weddings I video in Dundrum House Hotel, Ballykisteen Hotel in Tipperary and other hotels. I went up and spoke to the band – a very popular band, I might say. I wont name them as it would not be fair on other great bands. Durring the conversation, we got to chat about weddings and all the places we meet over the year. He explained to me that 3 couples were coming to the The Coachman Bar that night to hear them, as they did not like the idea of  going to someone’s wedding party to hear them.

The Coachman Bar Clonme
The Coachman Bar Clonme

This is a fantastic idea, putting no pressure on the couple. They can stay for a drink in the lovely comforts of the bar and chat to a band member and ask him to play a certain song they might want at their wedding. As the night went on and the band in question WAS fantastic, I might add, I did see the couples meet them and, along with the band getting a booking, so did I. They introduced them to me, so happy days all around. So, brides, keep an eye on the The Coachman Bar face book, and The Nationalist for further great wedding bands playing live at the The Coachman you can contact them here ?on 052 61 21299

Why should you have your wedding day filmed ?

Why should you have your wedding day filmed ?

Wedding Video Tipperary, Brides In Tipperary, Tipperary Brides, Abbey Video Productions

1. What might you Miss on the day?

Your videographer will be filmingloads of footage around you on your wedding day, often little things that you missed. At Abbey Video Productionswe will capture moments that neither of you witnessed. Talk to any bride and groom that have hired us at Abbey Video Productions and they will tell you what an absolute blur their wedding day was, and that they were  thrilled to have a video to help relive all the wonderful moments that they can’t recall.

2. Get it online

In these wonderful times of technology why not have a small clip of your wedding video online and on our Facebook page.  In every family there is some relation or friend abroad at the time of your wedding that can’t make it home for some reason or another that you would like to share a little clip of your wedding day with quickly and easily online.

3. Photos

Photographers  are a real tradition at a wedding and it is fantastic to open your wedding album at any time, but when you make those all important vows and when your parents and bridal party speak about you at your top table nothing but stunning  quality video and audio that we at Abbey Video Productionscapture for you can relive those moments.

4. Years down the road

Twenty years or more from now your children can relive your wedding video. Remember, your wedding video is not just for a day, it’s forever – a keepsake for your children’s children.

5. Is it in our budget?

We have heard of so many disappointed couples who did not have a video for their wedding day for one reason or another.  Maybe in the heat of the moment they thought they would not need one, or swapped it for a few extra flowers.  Some couples might get a family member or friend to video bits of their day, but apart from putting pressure on the guest they won’t have the professional equipment and therefore quality  that a professional videographer will have. We at Abbey Video Productions are like our motto: we are Professional, Affordable, Unobtrusive. At the end of the day, it’s one day: YOUR day and I am sure it’s a day you never want to forget.

6 Where are we based?

We are based in Cashel Co Tipperary, But distance is no problem  Over the years through feed back from couples, we have learned how important it is to all involved on a wedding day for the video person to maintain a discreet profile while still capturing every single detail of your day, this we can promise !

Here’s a comment we often hear Hi joe, I just wanted to say a big thank you for our incredible wedding dvd it was lovely to look at, u captured amazing footage, we’ll have a lifetime of memories to look back on, id recommend you to any bride and groom, you were the Invisible Man on the day ! 🙂 all the best joe. . Weddings in Tipperary 2013

Brides In Tipperary

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. It’s about celebrating your love for each other in front of family and friends. We all want that perfect day with the wedding dress of our dreams, the traditional wedding cake, that old fashioned car to take us to the Church and venue, or even a horse and carriage, wedding reception in a hotel fit for a Queen and her King… the list goes on and on.

Planning your wedding is a very exciting time but with the work and stress involved for you both can some times be a bit much.  These days weddings are not cheap here in Tipperary or any other part of Ireland, on average a wedding costs between 15,000 and 22,000 Euros! Times are hard for many people at this present time and everyone is trying to find ways to cut costs on their wedding day.  But there is always a way to save a little, and no matter how much, it’s a saving.  This doesn’t mean you have to give your guests bread & milk!  It just means you have to ‘think inside and outside the box’. There are lots of ways to keep the cost of your wedding day down.  Just looking around and doing a bit of research could save you hundreds at least. This doesn’t mean your wedding day needs to feel or look like you were skimping, it just means you were price conscience.  A simple wedding dress and even one flower the likes of a single lily can look fantastic and classy – you have often heard the saying less is more!

To help cut the cost with your reception try and set your date to a weekday or out of season (meaning not between the months of May and October) as many reception venues/ Hotels will give you a better deal for your business along with Photographers/ Videographers.  Don’t be afraid to haggle and you will do even better!

We love to Film !

While we at Abbey Video Productions do most of our Wedding Videography in Tipperary, we do travel. We enjoy discovering and videoing in these new locations and meeting lots of interesting new people, along with wedding Suppliers in different counties we enjoying working with these people on your wedding day and also networking with them, We are confident we are among the best wedding videographers here in the south east and the most competitive, which in times like these is of the utmost importance and we hope you will agree as our many happy couples have done. We produce fun and exciting modern quality wedding videos, the type that will not age as technology changes. This we feel is very important and we ask each couple for their input into their wedding DVD, as each couple has different visions of their wedding video. Each wedding is unique and so is every wedding video we produce.

Please enjoy some of our featured weddings here. Many thanks to the wonderful couples for allowing us to share their weddings with you online.

If you like our style, and of course our prices in these difficult times, give us a call or drop us a mail from our handy “quick contact us form”. We would love to hear from you and discuss your wedding video package, the one that suits you best. Spend some time watching our range of samples, but please do contact us for a full wedding sample to watch in the comfort of your own home, and we will try to match the Service and Hotel where you are getting married to the DVD we will send you. Whether you choose us or one of our competitors, we encourage you to take the time to watch our examples before you make your decision. While we treat quality of film and audio as being of the utmost importance, being affordable is also important these days and we can guarantee you that we are.
